Homeowner seeks charity for Home Raffle in Burke, VA
Our house is a three story townhouse located at 9418 William Kirk Lane Burke, VA 22015. This 1400 sqft home has 3 bedrooms and 2 and 1/2 bathrooms, 1 car garage, a deck leading of the master on the main level to a paver patio. The kitchen has granite countertops, tile floors and newer appliances (2006.) The living room has hardwood with and the loft from the third floor over looks the living area. The community it is in is the Caroline Oaks, a nice park like common area gives the feeling of open space. It is right next to the Pohick Library and shopping is within walking distance. The Burke Lake park is about a mile away which is an awesome outdoor resource. Of course this location is just outside the belt and appr 30mins to Washington DC.
My wife and I have been looking for solutions to selling our house for about 2 years now. We have moved from our house in Burke, VA and rented it out because of work and family support located in Vancouver, WA. The rent doesn’t cover the mortgages which is making it more and more difficult to manage the loss. We could not sell it for what we owe on it. I am really not interested in walking away from the property as I don’t think this is the right thing to do. I feel that perhaps some of current economic conditions is because many people have done this either because they had to or felt that the banks would be the ones to take responsibility. However, we all as a community suffer when the attitude of “let somebody else deal with it” to the theme of the day. I am really hoping a creative solution like raffling my home off for charity will give us hope of shedding this suffocating circumstance. Any help will be appreciated.
